Wakatobi is perfect for you because the reefs are not only pristine with abundant marine life, they come right up to the surface in most locations.

Snorkeler's Paradise

Our famous house reef located right in front of the resort will provide you with hours of snorkeling adventure. The sea grass gardens right off the beach are filled with nudibranchs, seahorses, juvenile reef fish, eels, crabs, and much more!. Many divers spend their entire dive just in the sea grass area.

If you get tired of exploring the house reef and sea grass gardens and want to visit some offshore reefs, you're welcome aboard all of our dive boats. There's plenty of room and snacks and drinks are provided for everyone.

We have a number of snorkelers who return to us year on year to enjoy the reefs from the surface ..... You won't be disappointed!

I am an ex diver, now snorkeler only. I was in Wakatobi in May 2007. Found it utterly fantastic for snorkeling. Better than the Great Barrier Reef even. Lush reefs, great for seeing from the surface, as well as being amazing for free diving. And unlike at most resorts, snorkelers are also VIP's at Wakatobi. I am coming back in 2009 (already arranged!) And, oh yes, that is me on the main picture of this snorkeling page.

As a non-diver (snorkeler) I was pleased that nearly every dive site offered nice snorkeling. Boat crews were very accommodating & every kind. Dive staff were also helpful. I had a wonderful time "on the surface" Wakatobi is where "getting away from it all" has real meaning. Must command Doris-who is an excellent, Naturalist as well as divemaster. I could see and swim down to many of the critters she found/pointed out.

At Wakatobi even the snorkelers are VIP thank you for that!! Almost all the spots are both for divers and snorkelers, it's fabulous, so we can take boat with divers, and we like that very well.
