Kecak Dance at the Uluwatu Temple
You will be picked up by your own private driver who will escort you to the sacred Uluwatu Temple.
Pura Luhur Uluwatu is one of Bali's directional temples and guards Bali from evil spirits from the south-west,
in which dwell major deities, in Uluwatu's case; Bhatara Rudra, God of the elements and of cosmic force majeure.
This is Bali's most spectacular temple located high on a cliff top at the edge of a plateau 250 feet above
the waves of the Indian Ocean. Uluwatu lies at the southern tip of Bali in Badung Regency. Dedicated to the
spirits of the sea, the famous Pura Luhur Uluwatu temple is an architectural wonder in black coral rock, beautifully
designed with spectacular views. This is a popular place to enjoy the sunset.
At this temple you will have the chance to watch one of Bali's most famous dances, the Kecak Dance
(monkey dance) which is performed everyday at sunset.
In the 1930s Wayan Limbak worked with German painter Walter Spies to create the Kecak from movements and
themes in the traditional sanghyang exorcism ritual and the portions of the Ramayana. This collaboration
between artists worked to create a dance that was both authentic to Balinese traditions but also palatable to
Western tourist's narrow tastes at the time. Wayan Limbak popularized the dance by traveling throughout the
world with Balinese.
Note:
Note:
USD 110 per couple (6 hours / includes entrance fee to temple & Kecak dance)
(Additional guest at USD 15 per person / children below twelve at 50% / children below three free of charge)
This includes entrance fees to the Uluwatu Temple and the Kecak performance.
The Kecak dance is performed every day between 6PM and 7PM.
The one way transfer from the airport to the temple takes about 45 minutes.
Dinner optional.
