Longer Bottom Times. Shorter Surface Intervals. These are among the many benefits of diving Nitrox -
a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen in which the concentration of oxygen is greater than that found in air.
You've no doubt heard of Nitrox, probably know divers who use it. Using Nitrox safely requires special
training and certification.
Wakatobi Resort is associated with PADI, SDI & TDI. You can chose any Nitrox course option
(minimum age 15) as long as you hold already any kind of open water diving license - the licenses are
recognized by all diving associations.
Get Nitrox Certified online before your Wakatobi trip!
There are three (3) convenient ways to get certified.
This is a online course you can take at home. No teaching materials have to be shipped to the resort.
You don't have to spend any of your holiday time taking a class. Upon arriving at the resort,
you will have a short knowledge review and a review of practical introduction by an instructor then
you are ready to go! This is the preferred option.
Learn more about the SDI training
You can take a traditional PADI course upon arriving at the resort or at some other PADI facility.
We have to buy and ship whole sets of student materials to the resort to offer this option. Upon
arriving at the resort, students read a booklet, watch a video and then complete materials in the booklet.
You will review and discuss important points with our instructor before taking a written test. Upon
successfully completing the course and examination you will be Nitrox certified. You will have to spend
time during your holiday to take the course.

- TDI: This is a NITROX course which requires to read a book, a presentation by the instructor and
delivers a deeper understanding of the matter. Best option for people who intend to further their knowledge
with follow-up TDI courses such as Advanced Nitrox and Closed Circuit Rebreather.

SDI Computer Nitrox Diver Course
SDI: this is a online course and it teaches Nitrox to be used with a Nitrox dive computer (no tables needed!).
The guests have the choice to study it online and do the test before visiting us, or they can do the course
online at the resort. No teaching materials have to be shipped. From the beginning of your stay in Wakatobi
Resort you will dive NITROX already! Certification will be awarded in the resort after a short knowledge
review and practical introduction by an instructor. We feel this is the most convenient option.
Through SDI's on-line training program, you can complete most of the required academic study in the comfort
and convenience of your home or office. And, with SDI programs, you'll learn to dive Nitrox the modern way,
using Nitrox-programmable dive computers instead of arcane formulas and complicated tables.
When you are done with the self-study portion of the course, you will meet with your SDI instructor to
review your final exam (academic review)and to take part in a brief, practical application session. Here
you will get hands-on experience with oxygen analyzers and Nitrox computers. And from the beginning of your
stay in Wakatobi Resort you will dive NITROX already!
When you have completed the academic review and practical application sessions, your SDI Dive Center will
order your permanent certification card. What could be easier? Nitrox opens a world of possibilities,
leading to better, more enjoyable diving. What are you waiting for?
