Gold Star Award
Most of my family are scuba divers and we have had many wonderful family scuba trips to the Barrier Reef,
Fiji Islands, Coral Sea, Palau, Lizard Island, Red Sea, many Caribbean dive sites plus a 15 year time
share at Bonaire in the Netherland Antilles. I do most of my diving these days at the Little Cayman Beach
Resort with dive master Dottie Benjamin. Of all these incredible places I have been diving the
'Gold Star Award Trophy' goes to Wakatobi. No dive location anywhere can possibly surpass Wakatobi.
The only thing that keeps it from being inundated with divers from all over the world, luckily, is that
it is a bit time consuming to get there.
One of the many extra things you receive is a printed record of your trip with each dive site and day you
were there and on the opposite side is a map of the area with each dive site marked. The food is 5 star
and they raise the bar on service. One evening after an outstanding dinner the staff brought to our table
a beautiful cake made to resemble a coral reef with native fish swimming, plus a green turtle and a candle
on top to honor my being the oldest diver ever at Wakatobi (88 years old). The cake was as delicious as it
looked, not a piece remained. The boat crew make the diving so pleasant, helping you with your equipment
and serving hot tea and snacks during surface intervals. The dive master assigned to you is so helpful in
finding species, especially for photographers and very knowledgeable in answering questions. All in
all - top kudos to Wakatobi!!
Best regards,
